London/South East fracking meeting (Jan 27 London UK)

As fracking in the South East of England is starting to hot up, we want to invite you to join fellow activists in London and the South East to discuss how we can best support local communities in opposing the fracking threat throughout 2018 and beyond.

Following a brief update on the state of play from each site, we'll provide an opportunity to discuss how people in cities and towns within the region can provide support to communities on the front line of the struggle, and how we can best communicate urgent call outs for people to help.

We'll be able to provide a more detailed agenda closer to the time of the gathering, but they'll also be plenty of time for people to break off into smaller groups to make plans for the year to come.

Following the national gathering on the 13th-14th, this will provide a great opportunity to help promote break the chain and discuss our future plans more generally.

Quakers against Fracking January - #NoFaithInFracking (Jan 26 Preston New Road UK)

Quaker Meeting for Witness to be held at the gates of Cuadrilla's fracking site as part of the 'No faith in fracking' day of action. ALL WELCOME - open to people of all faiths and none.

"We have faith that we can tackle climate change and build a more sustainable future, but we know this is only possible if fossil fuels remain underground."

Meeting for Sufferings, February 2017.

Under the 2015 UN Paris climate agreement, the UK committed to cut greenhouse gas emissions in line with a 2°C temperature rise above pre-industrial levels, and to attempt to limit this to 1.5°C. According to climate scientists, to achieve this target, we must keep approximately 80 per cent of known fossil fuel reserves in the ground.

Quakers in Britain call for a ban on all intensive forms of fossil fuel extraction, including fracking, because extracting and burning these fuels is harmful to people and our planet.

Getting there
The nearest station is Kirkham-and-Wesham, cross over the road outside the station and catch the #61 bus, which takes about 15 minutes. There is a bus stop very close to the fracking site. Or you could take a bike and cycle from Kirkham-and-Wesham station which also takes about 15 minutes.
Free car parking is available at: Maple Farm Nursery Garden, Moss House Lane (off Preston New Road), PR4 3PE.

For the past six years strong local communities have been tirelessly resisting fracking, supported by environmental and social justice organisations.

Together we have prevented the take-off of fracking across England, won suspensions of fracking in Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, and supported struggles against fracking around the world.

As the fight against fracking intensifies, it is more important than ever to make space for people in our movement to share experiences, skills, stories to stop this planet-wrecking industry.

Join us in Leeds on Saturday 28th October for a free gathering and training day for community groups, national anti-fracking groups and activists. Expect workshops, inspirational speakers, and updates from the fracking frontlines.

Last year, Friends of the Earth, together with Frack Free Greater Manchester, organised United Against Fracking in Manchester – a day of training and networking for anti-fracking communities. This year, United Against Fracking returns with Frack Free Leeds, and we will build on the experience of last year’s event as well as the latest developments in the fight against fracking.

Sessions throughout the day will cover topics such as:
- Media training
- Fighting fracking through the planning system
- Designing creative actions
- Brainstorm - National strategy against fracking
- Avoiding burnout
- Taking on Ineos
- Learning from experiences of Northern Ireland, Scotland, and beyond
- And many more!

There will be speakers coming from all parts of the UK and beyond to share their knowledge and their experiences, giving the opportunity to learn from each successes in stopping fracking from across the world, struggle, and to share solidarity with each other.
There will also be lots of space for more informal networking, for updates from anti-fracking battlegrounds in the UK, and for sharing your story, your experience, your skills. This is a chance to enhance your skills, but also to build and strengthen links between anti-fracking struggles. Because we are stronger together, and we can stop this industry.

Register for your free ticket and join us for the day.

Family Friendly Anti-Fracking Halloween Walk (Oct 27 Kirby Misperton UK)

As parents we want to do something to show solidarity against fracking. Our children will ultimately be the ones most affected by this toxic and unnecessary industry and they will have to deal with its aftermath. On Friday the 27th, 10.00-12.00, we would like to do a parent and child walk from Kirky Misperton village to the gates, in a call for calm. Please take a pumpkin 🎃🎃 to leave at the gates. Fancy dresss is optional but would inject some humour and make it extra fun for the children. So many of us support the protest against fracking but are not able to be involved in direct action at the gates. This will be a gentle walk and will not obstruct any vehicles nor be confrontational. The walk is during Ryedale school half term, though we are aware half terms differ elsewhere. Please come along and show your support.

Green Mondays at PNR anti-fracking site (Oct 2 - Dec 18 Preston New Road Fracking Site UK)

PLEASE do try to make it this week if you can... our much loved Green campaigner Anne Power is a driving force behind what we do and after her awful treatment last week - a firm stand in honour of peaceful protest is called for :)

As part of the on-going protest campaign against fracking at Preston New Road, local people have organised 'Green Mondays', as a follow-on from the Rolling Resistance campaign which Reclaim The Power helped organise throughout July. From environmental groups, including the Green Party, Greenpeace UK and Friends of the Earth England, Wales and Northern Ireland to divestment, transition, renewables and other groups as well as individual 'greens' from all walks of life... this event each Monday is for us to raise our voices against turning areas of the UK into gasfields.

This developing fracking site on Preston New Road (the A583) had its planning REJECTED by Lancashire County Council but with a Westminster dictate, local democracy was ignored and permission granted. Residents and campaigners have been protesting daily at this site since 5th Jan 2017 - urging the government to halt fracking and address the dismissal of democracy that was needed to make it happen.

For those using public transport, the nearest station is Kirkham & Wesham: from there, cross over the road outside the station and catch the #61 bus, which takes about 15 minutes. There is a bus stop very close to the fracking site. Alternatively, you could take a bike and cycle from Kirkham-and-Wesham station, which also takes about 15 minutes.

For those coming by car, the best route for getting there is as follows: Come off the M55 @ Jnc 4, onto the A583, signed Preston/Kirkham. Free parking is available at: Maple Farm Nursery Garden, Moss House Lane (off Preston New Road), PR4 3PE - Tel: 01772- 685166. The farm is less than a 20-minute walk from the fracking site.

Ian R Crane, Fracking awareness and current events (Sept 27- Leicester UK)

'Over the past 15yrs, Ian R Crane, a former oilfield executive, has established a reputation for insightful geopoltical and historical analysis .... Many of Ian's presentations are freely available to view on the Ian R Crane YouTube Channel.

However, for the past FIVE YEARS Ian has focused primarily on his Fracking Awareness Campaign.

The burgeoning UK anti-fracking community has contributed significantly to the fact that the Country has remained 'Frack Free' since spring 2011! However, this quest has not been without much drama and personal cost, with one of the Fracking Companies, Rathlin Energy, pursuing Ian through the Bankruptcy Courts for over two years! Ian's persistence in presenting himself as the 'Administrator of his Cestui Qui Vie Trust', denying the Courts joinder to his legal fiction, led to a the Bankruptcy Order being 'Buried' by the Establishment.

In the spring of 2015, Ian released his first documentary, 'Voices from the Gasfields', which portrays the experiences of landowners who now live in the heart of the Gasfields of Southern Queensland, Australia.
Ian is the also the host of 'HUMANITY vs INSANITY' & 'FRACKING NIGHTMARE' both of which are broadcast on www.ukcolumn.org/live and can be viewed on YouTube.

Ian is also the founder of the 'Alternative View' Conferences, all the presentations up to and including those recorded at AV7, are freely available on the Alternative View YouTube Channel.'

Doors open at 7pm talk starts at 8pm.
